The book takes the form of a journey which should be undertaken by believers who want to ensure for themselves the best outcome in their future lives. Its destination is to be with Allah. In other words, it is a lifelong journey towards Allah. The book divides the journey into stages, but these are not consecutive stages. Some extend throughout the journey itself, such as the stages of repentance, patience and truthfulness. Others are completed and the traveller progresses onto another stage. Ultimately, the traveller arrives at a stage of life accompanied by the stage of Allah’s oneness, which is the last aspect addressed by the book. All in all, it is a pleasant journey that helps to produce the best in man.

To place the love of any human being ahead of the love of His Messenger, Prophet Muhammad, is to forfeit one’s faith altogether. The Prophet says: ‘None of you truly attains to faith unless I am dearer to him than his parents, children and all mankind’. [Related by al-Bukhari].

Hence the one who wants to worship Allaah by doing any act of worship – Hajj or anything else – has to learn the teachings of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) concerning it, so that his actions will be in accordance with the Sunnah. This book explains in details about the purposes of the Hajj (pilgrimage). 

The author said in the introduction, “I write this book to invite people to the religion of Allaah … I briefly explained herein the story of the creation of the Universe, the creation of man and how he was favoured by sending Messengers to him and situation of past religions. I afterwards made an introduction to Islam as per its meaning and pillars. So, whoever is looking for guidance will find its evidences therein, whoever is looking for salvation may find that I have explained the way to it in this book, whoever desires to follow the track of the Prophets, Messengers and righteous people will find their path herein while those who turn away from their way only befools themselves and take to the straying path. It is a matter of fact that adherents of each religion call others to it and believe that truth only abide in their religion … Thousands of those who embraced Islam have testified that they did not know real life until after they embraced Islam and that they did never tasted happiness except under the shade of Islam. Since it is a fact that every human being looks for happiness, peace of mind and truth, I prepare this work to help them achieve that."
